Outrunning Hunger at the 2025 runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend

Share

A successful 2025 runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend is in the books.

It was Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Floridaโ€™s ninth year as the Celebrated Charity of Choice for the event. The partnership with runDisney provides many opportunities for Second Harvest to raise awareness about the fight against hunger in Central Florida.

Thanks to the support of the participants and runDisney, more than 280,932 meals will be provided to children, families, and seniors in Central Florida who face hunger.

Every year, runDisney provides Second Harvest with reserved race slots for food bank supporters who raise funds to fight hunger. Team members sign up to participate in one of the races by joining Team Second Harvest, creating a Virtual Food Drive, and committing to a fundraising goal.

โ€œItโ€™s been such a pleasure working with (Second Harvest),โ€ said Preston, a half-marathon runner on the team. โ€œThis whole experience was amazing. This is something Iโ€™ve been wanting to do for a long time.โ€

Team Second Harvest went the extra mile this year! Team members completed ten half marathons, two 10Ks, and five 5K races totaling 158.9 miles to outrun hunger.

Jordan Littman completed his first-ever 5K during the race weekend and raised more than $1,100 for neighbors facing hunger, enough to provide 4,400 meals.

โ€œIt was genuinely overwhelming in the best way possible just how many people cared and supported the food bankโ€™s mission,โ€ he said. โ€œTo have raised $1,100 for Second Harvest was what made it all worth it. A genuine community was built from this and reinforced Second Harvestโ€™s impact in Central Florida. Iโ€™m grateful for the opportunity to run and to raise money for a critical need.โ€

The help of volunteers made the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend a success. They showed up with enthusiasm and passion for the food bankโ€™s mission at the event expo and the races.

Lily Cring, Second Harvestโ€™s events intern, helped at the pre-race event expo and enjoyed interacting with supporters.

โ€œI got to speak with locals and visitors, adults and children, about the work we are doing at the food bank,โ€ Lily shared. โ€œIt was so beautiful to see firsthand our communityโ€™s willingness to step in and help our neighbors. I look forward to continuing to volunteer and feed hope.โ€
