In just a few short weeks, students will head home for an extended holiday from school. They will leave behind the worries of homework and exams.

They will also leave behind their school-provided breakfast and lunch, making the need for food even more urgent during the holiday season.

Finding Your “Help Mode”

Every September, Second Harvest Food Bank calls upon supporters to lend their voices to spread the word about and encourage our community to get involved and help fight hunger in Central Florida by taking action for Hunger Action Month.

This past Hunger Action Month, you did not disappoint! Anti-hunger advocates engaged with activities all month long to help close the meal gap and ensure that Central Florida neighbors have a better and brighter tomorrow.

Second Harvest Food Bank Expands Hunger Relief

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, the region’s largest hunger relief network, is set to expand into Marion County by merging with First Step Food Bank, Inc., which has served the community since 1992. Converting to branch operations not only strengthens the current infrastructure but expands marketing and fundraising support. This merging of the two organizations will lead to increased food availability, resulting in a reduction of the current food gap, which has grown throughout the county and nation over the past few years.
