People often say that food is love when words are not enough.

When Cameron, a second grader, got sick and spent a week in the hospital, his parents missed work and lost their paychecks. When they came to pick up his homework, the family engagement coordinator did more than help with schoolwork. She invited them to shop at the school market, a free food pantry on campus supported by Second Harvest.

Cameron’s dad was surprised by how much food was available. They could take home everything they needed, including ingredients to make spaghetti for dinner that night.

“This has been one of the hardest weeks for our family. I had no idea this kind of support was available. Thank you.”

$10 can provide 40 meals, and hope.
