Stories of Hope

You are Mobilizing Hope

Share

During Central Florida summers, pop-up thunderstorms come out of nowhere, drenching shoppers stranded without an umbrella. In the same way, temporary, short-term emergencies can arise for low-income families, sending them into a tailspin. The saying, “When it rains, it pours,” rings true for neighbors already living paycheck to paycheck and juggling a new health diagnosis, a surprise rent increase, or an unexpected car repair.

Because of your support, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida can respond to families, hardworking individuals, and seniors facing sudden and difficult financial choices with meals and hope.

“I come here to put food on the table for my family,” explains Jennifer, a mom with a mountain of medical bills. “I can pay my bills or feed my children, but I can't always afford both.”

Your kindness helps mobilize a critical response for families like Jennifer's during a financial storm. Second Harvest semi-trucks filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, lean meats and other essential grocery items drive into church parking lots, community centers and stadiums daily. Then, volunteers help unload, pack and distribute food to neighbors.

Watch the video below to see your support of mobile food distributions in action.

Caring people like you make every bag and box of food distributed possible. Thank you for helping to mobilize hope when your neighbors face an unexpected storm.

Your support provides hope to neighbors facing hunger.
