Time to Make a Change

โ€œI was finally ready to make a change,โ€ says LeMoris as he recalls what led him to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Floridaโ€™s Culinary Training Program. He spent much of his adult life working for a lawn care service, but cooking is in his blood. His grandfather ran a smokehouse and his father cooked in the Air Force.

โ€œFrom the moment I walked in the door at Second Harvest, I felt the positivity and knew this is where I belonged,โ€ he says.

LeMoris spent 16 weeks honing and refining his skills, learning to follow a recipe, and building his confidence. He learned that some of the most important lessons happen outside of the kitchen in life skills classes.  The skills in communication, teamwork, stress management, and goal setting helped LeMoris and a cousin team up to start a food truck.

Every day LeMoris gets to do what he loves, cooking and making people happy.
