Stories of Hope

“This Program is Changing Me.”

Share

Every morning Yolanda looks up at the wall inside the Culinary Training Program classroom to reads, “To find joy in work is to discover the fountain of youth.” This quote by Pearl S. Buck affirms her decision to go back to school.

โ€œI was raised by my grandmother and became her caretaker for the last several years,โ€ she explains. โ€œNow I am turning back the clock, going to school, and making my life better for myself.โ€

Under the guidance of chef instructors, Yolanda and her classmates learn how to properly measure ingredients, multiply recipes for large groups, and manage time in the kitchen. Each week for 16 weeks, they also cook cuisines from around the world and learn the techniques and seasonings from different cultures. Yolanda did not miss one lesson, earning the Perfect Attendance Award at graduation.

โ€œThis program is changing me, motivating me to be on the right path in order to pursue a better life. Thank you.โ€

The Culinary Training Program is shortening the line of need by transforming lives.
