State Rep. Susan Plasencia Visits Second Harvest to Announce $561,776 in State Appropriations Funding

Share

Recently, State Representative Susan Plasencia (R-FL 37) visited Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to announce $561,776 in state appropriations funding. The money will support the Food Cost Mitigation Project, which will help the food bank continue feeding hope across its seven-county service area by providing more than 2.2 million meals over the next year.

Second Harvest leaders asked state lawmakers at the beginning of the 2024 legislative session for additional funding for hunger relief efforts, citing inflationโ€™s continued impact on the household budget of hardworking families. In response to the uptick in requests for food assistance, Second Harvest is distributing enough food for 300,000 meals a day through its network of 750 feeding partners.
