Moms Make Tough Decisions to Feed Their Families

Share

Every day, mothers make hundreds, if not thousands, of decisions for themselves and their families. As a mother of a toddler and infant twins, Ferayda knows this all too well. She juggles feeding schedules, nap times, the never-ending laundry, and the family budget.

“We have to designate a lot of money from our budget for food, especially milk and formula,” explains Ferayda. “We spend a lot of money just to buy a few things.”

High prices for essential foods are only the beginning. Her family of five is surviving on her husband’s income because childcare for three kids under the age of three is cost prohibitive. Expenses add up quickly for rent, gas for the car so he can get to work, and diapers.

Through the support of a Second Harvest feeding partner, Ferayda receives groceries to fill her refrigerator and pantry with nutritious food like lean meats, fresh produce, cereal, beans and rice.

“It is a relief for my family,” says Ferayda. “Because of Second Harvest, we can have the food we need. I know we will have food and won’t go hungry.”

Thanks to the support of people like you, Ferayda has one less decision to make each day.
