Melody is Doing What She Loves

Share

After repeatedly seeing a social media post for the Culinary Training Program at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, Melody finally clicked “Learn More.”

“I told myself, ‘Here is this opportunity. Why not now?'” Melody recalled. She realized she wanted more from her career than just managing a fast-food restaurant.

Your support of workforce training programs is crucial. It enables students like Melody to gain the skills and training they need to turn their dreams into reality.

Melody's instructors guided her through the essential skills required to succeed in a commercial kitchen. She learned food safety and sanitation, knife skills, and how to make various sauces. Throughout this journey, she also built her composure and confidence.

“It was hard to keep going,” Melody reflected, recalling the challenge of juggling work, parenting three kids, and participating in the program. “Now I'm doing what I love.”

After graduating, Melody secured a position as a line cook at a local theme park. She attributes her success to the comprehensive training she received at Second Harvest, made possible by generous supporters like you.

The Culinary Training Program is transforming lives.
