Meet Viviane: A Woman on a Mission

Share

Viviane was inspired to fight hunger during the COVID-19 pandemic, so she volunteered. And she hasn't stopped.

“I started at Second Harvest, and I just fell in love,” Viviane says.

Since her first shift in March 2020, she's given 1,755 hours to help ensure her neighbors have the food they need to thrive. She's worked her way to being a volunteer captain. As a captain, Viviane goes the extra mile by helping wherever it is needed the most.

“Viviane owns it; she has so much passion for doing things correctly,” Lorri, a warehouse volunteer lead, says. “She just really takes it all to heart and won't stop until it's done and done right.”

While Viviane often assists with donation sorting, her involvement extends beyond that. She actively advocates for hunger relief efforts, using her voice to make a difference. She even extends her impact by bringing friends along to volunteer with her.

Viviane's always had a heart for giving back. Her compassion comes from her upbringing in Brazil.

“I understand the importance of having food at home, as I lived in Brazil,” Viviane says. “I knew that many people did not have anything to eat.”

Viviane's story is a testament to the power of individual action. Every shift, she volunteers to help provide thousands of meals to Central Florida kids, families, and seniors facing hunger. Her dedication is a shining example of how one person can make a significant difference.

“Working at Second Harvest, we can see how there are people who need help and how it makes a difference when we help,” Viviane says. “It is so important for everyone to volunteer in the food bank.”

Fighting hunger, feeding hope and helping people thrive through volunteering.
