Funding Freeze Threatens Food for Central Florida Families

Share

A recent pause in federal funding is creating uncertainty for Second Harvest Food Bank and the families, children, and seniors who count on us and our feeding partners for nutritious food every day.

Support from the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC), a key source of U.S.-grown food provided through the USDA’s Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), has been frozen. We have no indication of when or if this funding will resume.

Without this vital support, our food supply will shrink by at least 28 truckloads this year alone, putting nearly 1 million meals out of reach for people already facing hunger in Central Florida. While regular TEFAP funding through the Farm Bill continues, these supplemental shipments are essential for filling gaps during times of high demand.

Your help is needed to bridge the gap.

This is about our neighbors and their next meal. It's about ensuring children have enough to eat, that seniors on fixed incomes can access nutritious food, and that families working hard to make ends meet don't go without. Our mission doesn't stop, and neither can we. Please make a gift today to help provide urgently needed meals for our community.

Together, we can make sure no one in our community faces hunger alone.

Funding freeze puts meals at risk.

Your gift today can help.
