Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation Together with Franchisees and Crew Members “Bring Joy” to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida

The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, the charitable foundation supported by Dunkin’, recently celebrated a decade of volunteer powered assistance in support of hunger relief during National Volunteer Month. To mark 10 years, the Foundation has committed an additional $1 million to childhood hunger assistance programming.

On Wednesday, April 24, Orlando Dunkin’ franchisees and crew members visited Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to award a surprise grant of $50,000 and volunteer their time. Second Harvest will use the funds to support childhood hunger programs, including its Kids Café, Summer Food Service and School Partnerships Programs to distribute nutritious meals to kids across Central Florida.

“This is why we do what we do, to make a difference and help the community,” said Central Florida Dunkin’ franchisee Larry Lemos.

Approximately 40 volunteers supported the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation’s mission to provide the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger or illness. Throughout the day, the local Dunkin’ team sorted perishable and non-perishable food donations and packed groceries for families and individuals facing hunger in the Central Florida community.

Since launching in 2006, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation has granted more than $49 million to hundreds of national and local charities in support of bringing joy to children facing hunger or illness. To learn more, visit www.bringjoy.org.
