When it comes to creating and updating its programming and food distribution, Second Harvest considers the voices, needs, and input of neighbors, even the littlest ones.

Kids Cafes provide prepared meals to kids enrolled in Central Florida Head Start programs, schools and after-school programs. It’s important to the food bank staff running the programs to receive feedback on the menus, and they make sure to regularly check in with the kids for their opinions.

In observance of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Second Harvest wants to elevate the voices and stories of two Asian Americans who fight hunger in different ways but with the same dedication.

Every day at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, the warehouse hums with energy — and not just from staff. It’s the steady rhythm of volunteer teams from across Central Florida: coworkers from banks, healthcare systems, theme parks, tech firms, and more, all stepping away from their desks to make a real, tangible impact in their community.

Among these dedicated groups, Universal Orlando consistently shows up with volunteers who bring a deep commitment to fighting hunger. The volunteers sort food, pack boxes for the Bites, Camera, Action! program, and even help at resource fairs and food distributions.

Hundreds of tables and booths for every food product you’ve ever and never heard of stretch as far as the eye can see in not one but two convention halls at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.

It’s the UNFI Food Show, and everything from produce to deli meat to organic snack foods are on display. But what happens to all that food when the show’s over?
