Second Harvest Responds After Hurricane Helene

The devastation from Hurricane Helene has been difficult to watch from Central Florida, as our region was minimally impacted by the storm.

As a member of the Feeding Florida and Feeding America networks, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is often called upon to help respond in the wake of a natural disaster, such as a hurricane.

Companies are Taking Hunger Action

Hunger Action Month inspires individuals and groups to find simple and creative ways to help fight hunger. With one in eight Central Floridians facing hunger, there is no shortage of ways companies and organizations can get involved and make a difference on behalf of their neighbors. Here are some examples of corporate partners engaging their team members and the community to raise funds, elevate awareness, and get hands-on by volunteering.

Winn-Dixie and Second Harvest Team Up to Feed Hope during Hunger Action Month

Recently, Winn-Dixie and the Winn-Dixie Gives Foundation teamed up with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to bring hope to approximately 500 families in Seminole County for Hunger Action Month. This collaboration provided neighbors with much-needed food and relief from the high cost of living, medications, and other essential bills.

Driving Out Hunger

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a time to pause and celebrate professional truck drivers’ commitment to delivering essential resources. The work of Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida’s truck driver team is not just critical, but also deeply impactful. They are the ones who ensure that food donations from retail partners, farmers, and manufacturers reach our neighbors facing hunger, making a significant difference in our community.

Drivers rise early each morning to travel Central Florida streets and highways, driving hundreds of thousands of miles annually.
