Some kids dream of being astronauts or doctors. Pascale dreamt of becoming a chef. Growing up in Haiti, she envisioned a future where she would fuse Caribbean flavors with different cuisines. She left her homeland to pursue stability, opportunity, and culinary dreams.

You are serving up smiles this summer

Classic summer activities center around food, like grilling hamburgers at a family barbeque, roasting s’mores at summer camp, or the watermelon eating contest at Fourth of July celebrations. However, for one in seven of your Central Florida neighbors, summer activities are riddled with anxiety, worry and gut-wrenching financial decisions, especially at the grocery store.

For hardworking families, adding weekday breakfast and lunch back into the budget for kids home from school is enough to send them into a tailspin. With persistently high food prices, this summer is proving hard on parents and kids alike. But there is something to smile about.
