Stories of Hope

You Deliver Meals and Hope All Summer Long

Share

Last month, the school bell rang for the last time. Homework, vocabulary tests and the hustle and bustle of the school year came to a screeching halt. While many aspects of a childโ€™s life are on hold this summer, one thing doesnโ€™t take a break: the need for regular access to healthy, nutritious food.

Rising prices, from eggs to utilities, have families living paycheck to paycheck scrambling this summer while school-provided breakfasts and lunches are off the table.

With your support, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is bridging the gap for kids and families all summer long. By driving semi-trucks packed with food to church parking lots, stocking local food pantry shelves and delivering kid-friendly meals to summer camps, libraries and community centers, kids like Tobias have the food they need to just be kids.

โ€œI love the food I get here,โ€ Tobias says with a bright smile. He and his friends gathered around a table to eat lunch after a morning of basketball and arts and crafts in Kissimmee. His favorite part of lunch is fruit.

โ€œWe get apples or oranges or bananas. I like it all.โ€

Community support from donors, volunteers, and local feeding partners helps to brighten summer days with meals and hope. Thank you.
